The Roaches & The Boot is an original and emphatically Australian Dramedy designed to promote unlikely empathy, by demonstrating the three dimensionality of aggressive and abrasive Australian stereotypes.
Its story is set on a construction site, within which abuse is circulated routinely day after day. We watch four distinctly disenfranchised characters clash, coalesce, erupt and betray over the course of a graveyard shift that takes an unprecedentedly drastic turn, when one of them decides to kick their social hierarchy in the teeth.
This play witnesses downtrodden Australians scratching and clawing at one another for a sense of ownership over their own lives, in order to confront its audiences with the fact that selfish and animalistic people are a byproduct of hunger. Ultimately urging us to employ compassion within an unforgiving economy that relentlessly disempowers the already disadvantaged.
