Katie Lees Fellowship performance 2026

The Katie Lees Foundation and Flight Path Theatre proudly support the Katie Lees Fellowship 2026.

Katie Lees tragically died on the 4th of August 2021 from thrombosis with thrombocytopenia caused by the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Katie was set to be the first actor back on stage at Flight Path Theatre just as soon as our doors reopened. Katie was to present her play called Temporary, which she wrote and produced and was, like Katie, full of guts, humour, compassion, tenacity and a reflection of humankind.

Katie spent her life making connections, with the natural world around her and the thousands of people she encountered on her travels. Katie did not waste her energy on trivial things like a stable income or the property market, she poured her energy into creating theatre and more specifically, she had begun to hone in on comedy and gosh could she make people laugh!

The Katie Lees Fellowship is designed to support a young female/female identifying theatre maker. In 2022, Flight Path Theatre was awarded a grant through Inner West Council and together with generous donations from Katie’s friends and family made in her honour, we supported two theatre makers through a development period of a script/concept at Flight Path Theatre, culminating in a run of the production late last year.

In 2023 and 2024 the Katie Lees Fellowship was funded through the Katie Lees Foundation and Flight Path Theatre. The foundation is now accepting donations for the KLF 2025.

Get tix to RARA - KLF 2027

RARA is the debut work of Meg Denman, created as the 2026 recipient of the Katie Lees Fellowship. This is its premiere season — five nights at Flight Path Theatre, running Tuesday 10 through Saturday 14 November.

RARA is a love letter to chronic illness, big dreams, our bestie boos, dance & Spain in the summer. It's a reminder of our strength. Our ability to handle a lot more than we think we can. Set to the soundtrack of the pop princesses who run the world. Call it a glimmer of hope, with touch of heartbreak & a whole lot of choreo. Call it RARA.

Annual KLF Showcase 💜 Friday 13 November

One night each season, we host something extra special. The Fellowship invites you to join us for a viewing of RARA by Meg Denman, followed by a panel that brings together KLF community members and past and present Fellowship recipients. The panel will discuss the state of Australian theatre today, and how the Fellowship has helped platform bold, female-led new work.

Want something EXTRA? ⭐️ Purchase a Friends of KLF ticket and join us a little earlier on Friday 13 November only. From 6:30pm, you will enjoy a meet-and-greet before the show, with complimentary drinks and canapés. Our Friends of KLF will receive premier reserved seating for the show and panel.

About RaRa

Elle, Millie & Zara are one night away from performing on the iconic 'Diva-Nation' stage. A show they've dreamt about dancing in since they were girls. They've trained hard, put their faith in the dance gods & are ready to do Beyoncé proud. The only thing stopping Elle is her ankle. And her knees. And her wrists. She's riddled with arthritis, has been since age two.

When an unexpected (& completely unwelcome) flare-up threatens to tear her dreams to shreds she must face it, head on. With the help of the CIA (Chronic Illness Angels), Elle grapples with the idea that her body might be the only thing in standing in the way of her and her biggest dream.
